For parents
A custodian is the adult in Canada who takes responsibility for your child in an emergency and acts as an official contact while you are far away.
Why choose our custodians?
A custodian is only useful if you can reach them. Ours take on a few students each, not a few hundred.
A custodian arranged through a school
- One custodian is sometimes assigned hundreds of students.
- Parents may never get the chance to meet them.
- Some families cannot contact the custodian directly at all.
- Your child is one name on a long list.
A SAY Education custodian
- Looks after only several students each year.
- You meet your custodian and know who they are.
- Easy to reach by you and by your child.
- Has the time to guide your child when it is needed most.
Who our custodians are
The people we trust with your child are the kind of adults you would choose yourself.
- Canadian citizens with no criminal background.
- Established professionals. Highly educated people working as health care professionals, finance managers, education consultants and teachers.
- Trusted for years. Every custodian has a long record of working with us.
- Rooted in the community. Each has lived in their area for more than 10 years.
- At home in the school system. They know how local schools and school boards work.
- Good with teenagers. All have experience with high school students.

How much support
From emergency contact only, to a custodian who meets your child at the airport, attends parent-teacher interviews and sends you reports. Compare the four levels.
What you will hear from us
How closely the custodian follows your child depends on the level you choose.
Is your child travelling to Canada alone?
Anyone under the age of majority on arrival is a minor: under 18 in some provinces, under 19 in others.
